HANJ Advocacy
Advocacy is at the heart of the Hemophilia Association of New Jersey’s mission.
HANJ works to educate elected officials and key stakeholders about hemophilia and other inherited bleeding disorders. With a long history of pioneering state legislative advocacy, HANJ continues to lead efforts that improve access to care and support the needs of the community.
Each year, HANJ participates in the National Bleeding Disorders Foundation’s Washington Days and hosts the annual Partnership for Advocacy and Communications Training (PACT) Workshop.
Advocacy takes many forms throughout the year, and there are numerous ways for community members to get involved, including:
- Writing letters to elected officials regarding proposed laws or regulations.
- Meeting with state decision-makers, including departments of banking and insurance, health, and Medicaid.
- Educating health plans about the needs of the bleeding disorders community.
- Advocating to your healthcare provider about your unique care needs.
- And so much more.
